|
|
First round worked great and is probably the only Inspiron 1525 that works as I built it not Dell. The second one got it all together from parts I had and a busted up one I bought at the flea market that had a baseball bat go through the screen and then had been stripped out leaving just the bottom case and motherboard usable. So I built a true Hell laptop (1/2Dell&1/2 HP) it fired up great after I bought processor, ram, and Hard drive. Except when it booted it went to the famous password authentication screen.
If you thought it was hard to get support from Dell normally you should try my end first tech copped attitude telling me you can't cross a dell with an HP (shows you how smart they are as I use the first one all the time and its fast and smooth and unlike most dells its reliable! The second tech told me no help with password but remove cmos bat and it would reset so just proves dell techs don't know what they are talking about.
So if anyone out there is like me and has more brains than dells techs suggestions are welcome as I would have more faith in a random stranger than Dell. _________________ Buy a new Dell if you enjoy frustration, buying a used Dell if you wish to drive yourself crazy. The password screen explains the baseball bat. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

Dhell goes as far as it can to keep you from using their parts to build anything but a junk pile. _________________ Former employee of Dell and can say that they

So sounds like Dell is not to environmentally friendly, if parts can't be re-used that's not the green way to go. Like a friend of mine was saying if it gets re-used that is 100% recycled if it ends up in a junk pile to get broke down how much was recycled, how much ends up in landfill and how much gets released into our atmosphere in the breakdown process.
And ya the baseball bat should of been a good first clue! lol
Funny thing is the Dell tech I talked to said its service tag is still under warranty until Oct-2010 guess the original owner didn't like their service either. _________________ Buy a new Dell if you enjoy frustration, buying a used Dell if you wish to drive yourself crazy. Lotta passwords get locked by ex-spouses. That would ALSO explain the baseball bat. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

WOW! Guess the secret to good service is in the way you tell them off they sent me an an e-mail transferring the service tag to me.
Now lets see what happens they say they are sending me a pre-labeled box so I can send it to their service depot as the passwords they gave me on the phone don't work, and they say they will fix under warranty.
So lets see how it goes I will update you and we'll see how they do. _________________ Buy a new Dell if you enjoy frustration, buying a used Dell if you wish to drive yourself crazy. You get more satisfaction out of lighting your money and watching it burn! |

Good luck, let us know. Not to jinx it but Dell's depot contractors have some characteristics you wouldn't like if exposed to them. Among which, fraud and theft. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

Is everyone sitting down, has hell froze over or the world come to and end!
I was so shocked I went out and bought 4 lottery tickets, lol.
I got the laptop back from dell after the box arrived to ship it on Monday, I shipped it on Tuesday it was back in my hands by Friday. Now if that's not a large enough shock they not only replaced the motherboard but they also replaced the old HP display I used in making it, replaced the 80G with a 150G hard drive and sent me the 80G back, they also replaced the keyboard, RAM and replaced the missing hinge cover power button assembly that was busted beyond repair when I got it.
So to conclude to all those having problems "Don't back down when dealing with them If you are right to the point with them and don't loose your cool", not to mention I have a gut feeling they may have read this forum by a couple of comments they made on the phone and the number of supervisors that contacted me to make sure I was happy with the service I think they did. There is a first time for everything and this is the first time I ever in many dealings with them that they have surprised me and went above and beyond what I expected as I figured they would take one look when they got it and through it in the trash and laugh. _________________ Buy a new Dell if you enjoy frustration, buying a used Dell if you wish to drive yourself crazy. Such an exceptional ocurrence, the Mayan calendar should have predicted it. Or Nostradamus.
Dell's depots are more known for accusing you of spilling water in it when you didn't. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

You can say that again, I have dealt with them on many occasions as a tech for many individuals and businesses and like I said this is way off base of anything I've seen or herd. I'm sitting here installing anti virus and updates and I'm still having trouble believing it! _________________ Buy a new Dell if you enjoy frustration, buying a used Dell if you wish to drive yourself crazy.
