Everyone is welcome here. We have a tone of editorial and civil restraint you won't typically find on the internet.

In order to maintain that tone, with the volume of traffic we experience and the volunteer nature of moderators and administrators, we must ask that you observe the restraint characteristic of the board.

When writing about an issue with Dell, you may unleash your anger and even use expletives for emphasis. Before cursing them however, we would ask that you read the Terms & Conditions which came with your purchase, to see if the misunderstanding was one of assumption on your part.

We know that Dell marketing and sales lies and misleads people, and you are perfectly welcome to express your own experience if that happened to you and how you were misled.

In responding to customers who were uninformed or misled, do NOT confront them with their lack of information or understanding. That serves no purpose other than to further alienate them, and demean the tone of the board. Consider your post as talking to a friend. Explain the situation without judgementalism or condescention. Help out whereever you can, with operational suggestions.

Now the hard news. The moderators here are overloaded. We can't individually explain the tone and mission of the board to everyone one at a time. If you are found to be in violation of tone or mission, you will get no more than two warnings before your account is unequivocally closed.

Enjoy, express, help out, but please observe and respect what we're trying to maintain here.

Rocke:

Great post! I've found by and large that on this board everyone seems to be pretty civil which is greatly appreciated. And as for the moderators, on any board or even chat room, being a moderator is a thankless job and many people don't realize the amount of effort that goes into making a forum informative, friendly and open. I for one appreciate it.

I travel a bunch and joined a forum for frequent fliers called Flyertalk.com. It's a great place to find hints and tips on how to manage the "fun" of flying today. However, it's a huge forum and the "regulars" tend to lie in wait for a newbie to ask a question that's been asked before rather than use their search function. It totally inhibits people like myself when you ask something only to be flamed bigtime. So I think you're right on target with what you posted. Keep up the good work....I think people greatly appreciate what goes on here.

We're glad you're onboard, Licky.

I don't aim for this to become a conversational thread though. It is a unilateral statement of policy. I didn't 'lock' it, but at the same time the subject is not open for discussion.

Contributors may voice agreement. Those in doubt may post in open forum or PM to have the subject further delineated. Dissent will not be heard, and will be deleted, so don't even bother.

I'm the farthest thing from a fascist anyone can imagine. But I spent 3 hours today alone straightening out this kind of issue, and I simply don't have the time to do that every gawdam day. Hence the definitive limits and zero-tolerance policy.

My Dell Insperion 9300 laptop was sent for repair to Dell in September of 2008. Since then I have received no reply to it's status. I have spent 18 hours per month October through December trying to get my property returned to my address. My last three years are on that computer including some pictures and letters vital to a lawsuit coming to trial in March of 2009. I have talked with over 280 people in India and the Philippines, not one of them willing to help find my computer. Supervisors take my number but never return my calls with any information. UPS has tracked the computer to Lavergn, Tenn.(SP) where it was signed for in September. I can find no information on Dell, no numbers to call in the USA. All the numbers I have tried have lead to the dreaded Que were I wait for long periods listening to retard music, growing so angry I could spit. I hate this company and it's cheating ways. I am out my computer, $2,300 wasted dollars and a Dell Case worth $175. There is no recourse with these people, there is no public conscience what so ever. It is impossible. What does a consumer do when Dell refuses to even check out a consumer complaint like this one. I have read so much about Dell abuses on the internet yet no one seems to have had any type of good outcome. Is there no place to turn, can I join a class action suit, is there anyone at Dell who cares about a simple process of finding my misplaced computer, fixing the freeze up and returning it to me in working order?
What gives with these horrid humans at Dell?

Are you frustrated with Dell? In Australia call 13 33 55, choose option 4 and put in 5553. A nice man named Charles should be able to help.

Thanks Rocke! Nice to know that there is somewhere I can unload. Just wish Michael Dell would get back to taking care of his company.

i bought a dell vostro 15 montha ago and it has crashed 3 times. the first time i thoughtit was us,but they guy that fixed it said that our laptop was not a good product. we took it home $300.00 dollars later. then last fall is took a crap Again, soooooo i called them and they said it was the mother board. once again it was fixed and this time dell paid for it. Now here it is 6 months later and same thing, only this time it was the hard drive. "we'll send a technician out to replace it" was what we were told. two weeks later she finall did show up and replaced the hard drive. It took all of 10 minutes, and didn't even turn on the blasted thing to see if it even worked. You guessed it,NOPE, it didn't so we had to take it and have all the disks and stuff they dumped on out table installed AFTER we had a guy come to our house and get the thing to turn on. Called them and and asked for a new one since two independent computer repair people said that this is a lemon and said to sell it. No was the answer to that. "we're sorry but we don't do that" is what i was told. This company is the biggest rip-off organization EVER in my opinion. I am going to contact the BBB to see if they can help. DO NOT EVER BUY A DELL!!! i am going to shout that from the rooftops to everyoneand maybe if their sales go down, they will get the hint!!. thanks for letting me vent because as this moment i am feeling angry.

I swear ALL the PC makers are turning into crap. I have a friend who works in chip manufacturing and he says the most of the boards are now built in China or the like and that they keep using cheaper and cheaper parts.

You might want to do a web search on class action lawsuits. I know that there is one currently in the works for HP laptops. At least if you contact these lawyers you might get in on a class action lawsuit if enough people cry out. Can't hurt.

Looks like it might be a good time to buy stock in Apple. I swear if all the people I knew who said they were going to switch over actually did Apple stock would soar!

One note of warning: HP's computers are just as bad and remember they bought out Compaq. Gateways and Acers have always been low quality.
