This is the second scandal I experienced with DELL. Because of the previous scandal with my Dell laptop, I had to return my Dell laptop, but then I made a huge mistake and bought a Dell desktop, which even turned out to be worse. I bought a Dell desktop in late March, 2008, and it came with a problematic Windows Vista. After a while, I bought a new DVD (Region 1) and I wanted to watch it, but to my surprise, the Dell desktop could not run it. ı experienced the same problem with some other new DVDs of mine. While my computer plays some of my DVDs, it refuses to play some others and gives an error, and this is completely random. As soon as I noticed this problem, I contacted the Dell online chat service. The technician could not solve my problem and then gave up and did not care about my problem at all then... And noone from Dell called me or offered me further help. After around 10 months, I bought another new American DVD and wanted to play it, but again, my problematic operating system did not play it. I contacted the customer service again and told them I had had that problem almost since I had bought the computer, but they did not solve my problem. What\'s more, they told me that I had to make a paid call to Dell for a problem which was caused by Dell itself! This was so shameful for such a huge company! Are they trying to make more money by taking advanteg of my problem? What a shame!

It is ludicrous that Dell sold me a desktop and it cannot even perform the most basic task of a computer! And this is not the only problem I experienced with the Windows Vista they sold to me. I wonder if there is going to be a single time in which I do not have a problem with a Dell product - all the computers I bought from Dell turned out to be problematic!

Vista is designed to be Idiot proof! That is it! You need to know the special in's and outs to get it to do anything that its designed to do.
Vista does it all! inclucing sucking up lots of memory!

Microshaft"s winblows 7 is no better. Part of the problem is the DRM and the
shitty media player 11 all bundled in the pieces of crap. as long as you stick
with MICROSHAFT's shiity software it's going to be this way from now on.
learn something new, Linux is not hard and it works

It's a simple explanation, and one that has nothing to do with Dell as a product. You have heard of regional code on DVD's, right?-- it's to cut down on pirating. DVD hardware (your optical drive) is designed to accept certain regional coding and not others, read about it to get the details (Google). The short version is this: your DVD player on your system will not play DVD's from that region unless you change the properties in your control panel... do that and you should be up and running very soon. Not Dell's fault this time, I guess....

Wow, sounds like someone is a little unhappy.

Care to explain the Windows 7 comment? I'm running Windows 7 64bit on my gaming systems. One using SLI, the other CrossfireX. Both experienced a 30~40fps increase in almost every game. This increase is over both XP and Vista.

I'd like to know what it is that I'm missing that you're seeing

Actually I am going to go with poormanq45 here. I do not have machines that are using the beta versions of Win 7, but I have heard from a friend that is trying out the OS. His comments are that Win 7 is a whole lot better and stabler than the last MS disaster called Win Vista. The only exception is to this is memory requirements. MS says Win 7 can run with only 1 gig ram, but the truth is Win 7 requires 1.5 times the amount of Ram that Win Vista needs for decent performance. My best guess is at least 4-6 gigs of ram with a lot more needed for better performance.

If you would stop buying the garbage from these Lame OEM PC manufactures like DEL (Especially Dell) then you would be able to use this stuff just fine. Shoot I have a Socket A AMD Athlon XP 2.6 and a 2.8 Barton Core of course. That Run Windows 7 just fine with all candies. Bottom line is that if you can't run Windows 7 then well you have a PC that you shouldn't have bought and or is tied and should be replaced anyway.

Here is another note for you; The Typical OEM motherboard is only worth about $20 to the retail market, by retail market I mean, finding a Motherboard that is the same in specs, not using OEM replacement retailers. There is a Difference. After all how did you think that they were able to sell you a PC for 400 more or less, They weren't getting you the even decent hardware, they were hooking you up with something that just worked for the OS preinstalled. This equates to TRASH so throw it away!!
