| Quote: | | I hate Sponge Bob. | Well the theme song says, "If nautical nonsense be something you wish..." A little heavy on the 'nonsense' part for adults, but it's Nickelodeon's #1 franchise.
At #2 is "Fairly Odd Parents". Two generations didn't get their own version of 'Bullwinkle', but this one did. A kid-nonsense cartoon with barely-hidden adult themes. You have to watch it more than once to catch on. The brilliant creation of Butch Hartman, who has held every position in the animation industry, it's originally drawn, very fast-pace edited, fully scored (the music goes with the action, not just the same canned jingle repeating every few minutes like Hanna-Barbera) and fully Foley'd with original sound effects for every sight gag. The provocative stuff isn't in-your-face like Southpark, but it's there--in tossoff lines between characters that don't seem to have anything to do with the plot--so you have to pay attention to pick up on it.
About the time today's 10-year-olds turn 50 and start collecting nostalgia from their childhood, my Hartman-autographed poster of FOP is going to be priceless! _________________ Rocke T Sinetist
