I am in Nashville and quit Dell back in May - but I never inquired about vacation pay. If we quit and give more than 2 weeks notice are we supposed to get paid for the days we didn't take as vacation???

Best I can tell, it varies by state. Call the TN employment commission and ask them.
I called the TX EC and they told me the only thing the employer 'owes' you is pay for hours worked. Vacation is a benefit and the company can set their own policy. I can assure you, that if Dell is free in TN to deny vacation pay upon severance, that's what they will do. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

According to the HR pay policies, you forefit any vacation/holiday time that you have. This is regardless whether you quit on your terms OR their terms. As Rocke noted, they don't owe you anything except what hours you worked.
I happen to look at their site to see if there was some way I could get my vacation time and still move to a better job. I was sadden to see they got the last laugh on vacation.
I was laid off not too long ago and that was the happiest day I've had in a long, long time. |
