|

Hi All,
I'm a former Dell Ottawa employee who left before the call center tanked. It's that time of the year for taxes, and once again Dell has decided to screw me. They haven't sent my T4 to my home, my mom's home, or over epost, and I have no idea how to get it.
I've been told my call center is completely closed now, and I don't know how to get a hold of...well...I don't even know who to talk to!
All I know is I need to do taxes, and have no T4. Any ideas? |

In the US it is the employer's responsibility to mail your tax records by a certain date, and a fine if it's not done. Whether the employer is still in business or not.
Can't say about Canada, or if headquarters kept records of branch offices. I'd say call Dell HQ, but in saying so realize how silly that sounds. Dell goes well out of its way NOT to solve anything by "calling Dell". _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

I know in Alberta, employers have until the end of February to postmark T4 slips. 90% of them do wait until the very last possible minute.
Contact your local Service Canada branch or CRA branch and they should be able to tell you what the deadline is in Ontario. I suspect it's the same there as it is here. Last day of February. |

Now that is good to know. I believe although Dell call centers have closed, the administrative offices for Dell, Inc. would still be functioning. Even though I was employed at a call center in another province, the pay slips and T4's all came from North York, Ontario. So we still have until the end of the month to get the T4's. *Cross fingers* _________________ di·lap·i·dat·ed

I was informed that there is someone from Payroll still in the Dell Ottawa building so that's good news. I'm apparently not the only one who doesn't have my T4 yet so that's a relief. A friend of mine had already gotten his and it had me worried.
I believe in Ontario they legally have to be sent out by the end of Feb as well. Here's hoping! *crosses fingers* |

Here's the official word, right from the CRA website:
When do I get my T4 slip? |
